GenCon is a whirlwind in many ways, but now on the other side of it we are gearing back up for a great wind-up to the year.

OOC: I honestly did not expect the prologue to Legendary Planet to be a mystery, much less one that is this good; whether played for weirdness or downright horror, this module makes clear from the get-go that it’s not your standard fantasy fare. But only in hindsight. As a piece of advice: Don’t tell your players necessarily that this will be a sword & planet module. There are several themes that make for delightful red herrings in the hands of a capable GM, making the realization of what is truly going on have even more of an impact. The Assimilation Strain is an excellent module and a furious first in the series, one that makes me very happy I’ve been able to back the kickstarter. With great production values and content that must be considered awesome, this module is a great way to kick off the AP, one that has me stoked to see what’s in store for us. My final verdict will clock in at 5 stars + seal of approval.

Meanwhile, high-level characters in a fantasy RPG are really the superheroes of their worlds. You can argue over which class or race is the strongest, but in the olden days it was not unheard-of to have cross-genre campaigns where PCs might encounter actual superheroes (I know I worked in the Casket of Ancient Winters and the Darkhold from Marvel comics into an old campaign).

I've been thinking about superheroes in fantasy gaming in part from a purely artistic perspective, since one of the new alien races in our Legendary Planet setting is a sentient construct race that resembles the Iron Man armor, or perhaps something Ultron might have constructed. You can see the new art in our latest Kickstarter update, along with the announcement of our free Art and Map Folio for "The Assimilation Strain," which we'll be doing for each of our adventures in this series.

Will Treasury of the Orient be available in print? And is there any chance of doing a Mythic Monsters book devoted to oriental monsters?

Treasury of the Orient will be available in print on DrivethruRPG. It's a little bit too short for our usual print source at CreateSpace (minimum 24 pages) but DTRPG print products can be as short as 16. Their process takes a bit longer than the CreateSpace print cycle, but it should be available sometime next week.

As for Mythic Monsters devoted to oriental monsters, that is definitely in our plans! We are actually getting ready to launch a mythic monsters series devoted to monsters from real-world myth and legend. The first books on tap are planned for Norse and Egypt and Africa, but it depends on how soon the various contributors get done with their creatures. Separate books are planned for monsters rooted in the myths and legends of China, Japan, and India, so hopefully you'll see some of your favorites by the end of this year!
