They have stated their commitment to nonessential character options. I don't know what more you want to put your mind at ease that WotC has not gone out for a pack of cigarettes never to return. The tent is bigger, the net is wider, some options will be for Other People. This has been true since the first Player's Handbook.</blockquote>
