The weak rays of the dawning sun has yet to break up the mist of the cool morning air. Though the songbirds of the forest are waking from the night, this morning there will be no singing to praize the coming of day.

Not a wind is stirring when a single cherry blossom falls impossibly slowly down towards the embracing couple. As it lands in the limb open hand of the Lady another, then yet another blossom falls from the tree. More and more of the blossoms fall; a silent, delicately fragrant shower, covering the ground from the grisly traces of battle.

Everything is silent for a second.

A young girl sings softly, her voice is clean and light. The words are strange and new, but the melody is that of a lullaby, soothing and slow. Lamya has moved closer to Lady Tsin and Nicodemus and holding Cadwgawn's hand, they are kneeling next to the woman that was their only family.

Still singing, Lamya combs Tsin's black hair with her fingers as Cadwgawn takes out the white silk bandana that once was Ulf of Crow's. With great care, he wraps the cloth around Tsin's head. The embroidered, silvery white symbol of the spider covers her forehead where once the Gem of Heaven's Honor had it's place. There is no better substitute than a symbol most synonymous with honor in it's utmost distinction.

A single tear falls from his eyes as he ties the knot.

Nobody is watching when in the dojo not far below them, a small figure clad in pure, white robes rides gracefully out thru the dojo gate. Near the middle of the dojo bridge spanning the stream, she comes to a stop in front of a young man. He smiles to the woman as he bows and takes the reins of the silvery white horse, leading them out of the dojo for the very last time. They walk away without looking back, across the grassy fields now bathed in warm sunshine and up over the rolling hills.

As they disappear behind the crest of the hills they leave the sorrows and cruelty of this world. Soon, they too will join with the others, waiting for them in a better place.

OoC: I'm sad that this community has lost you as an active participant, E., but I'm truly grateful for having been a small part of the stories you have told. Fortunately, YB is full of great storytellers, but even so, your exit creates a void that I fear no one will be able to fill. I hope to hear from you from time to time and I hope you will find time in the future to participate in our stories. Thank you for the many fun, exciting and moving experiences you have given me. You won't be forgotten. :)

As the sun rises - MidKnight stands.

The new circlet of the Honored White Spider sits upon his brow. He lifts it from his head and stares hard into the relic. There are no smiles from the warrior today.

Only rage is present. With his head lifted to the sky, he screams "Damn you!" And in an act of defiance more bold than any he has ever shown, even while serving evil interests, he heaves the Katana of the Heavens skyward.

"Why have you forced me to take the life from one who served you with all of her heart and soul?! I will never understand your motivations, but I can see the carnage your will has wrought and I choose to no longer take an active part in this. I will watch the new generation of fighters and help where I can, but I will not be responsible for the death of another friend."

Emotion flees him as he turns back to the group. With a steeled look, MidKnight joins Nikodemus and the twins for the solemn duty that must be carried out.

OOC: Noooo! You can't leave! We've been waiting for your return and now you're leaving us?? That sucks...:) but I understand completely.

I won't be leaving, but MidKnight is retiring. I have a new fighter to use and I am looking forward to the reset.

After Lady Tsin's body has been prepared by the children, Niko gently lifts up his love and carries her remains into the small stone hut where she once lived. Laying her on the bed there and arranging her until she almost seems to be sleeping, Nikodemus then takes some roses from a nearby vase and places them around her on the bed. Kneeling down beside the bed, Nikodemus crys softly as he whispers the old poem that he learned long ago...

"Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die. Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep."

Leaving the small room, Niko finds a pile of large stones that he begins using to block up the entrance to the stone hut. It takes many hours of labor, but he sweats and crys his way through it till it is done. Finally finished, he stops and sits down to write a scroll which he will hang here for as long as it lasts. As he finishes writing, he feels a hand on his shoulder. Looking up, he sees Archangel standing above him.

"It is time to go now, my friend. You will see her again soon enough."

"Not soon enough, my friend, but you are right that it is time to leave this place now. Even knowing some of what was to happen here, I did not think that it could hurt so much. After all, as you say I will join her again before long. But the pain is still nearly unbearable. Let us go now, for I do not wish to wait a second longer than I must to see my love again."

With that, Nikodemus hangs the scroll up on the outside of the small stone hut, then turning his back on the past, he follows Archangel upward on the path to the heavens and a reunion with his Lady.

The scroll hanging on the wall bears a simple message:

'Here lies the Lady Tsin. The most faithful servant of the heavens and Honor. With her I found happiness and without her there is naught but pain, so I go to join her again in the heavens.

Follower of good, or doer of evil, stop here and pay your respects to her. For this land would not be what it is had she not been present, and it shall never again be what is was now that she is lost to us all.'

OOC: So very sorry to hear that you are gonna dissapear. I understand, but it'll be our loss to not have your great storytelling here on the board. Does this mean that Sharlea needs to find another adventuring buddy too? Did Mei-Lin decide to settle down and make baby blacksmiths? :D Seriously though, thanks for all the good times. Niko wouldn't have been half as cool without your help and interaction. You will be missed...alot.
