It won't work for me. Says I'm missing a plugin, but it doesn't find it when I tell firefox to look for it.

It uses java. Don't know if that helps you any.

What is the %? Stairs down? How to go down? The "manual" says you just fall down. But I got "stuck" on level one.

I was level 7 but the room where the staircase was located in was blocked by a teleporting trap that kept on sending me elsewhere.

8th level, by old records were 17th (dungeon level) and winning (with save and reloads)
good old rogue - we had tournents erm... 1990-1991
