[QUOTE="(un)reason, post: 9797740, member: 27780"] 5 people present at the start, although the drow dropped out midway through. They resumed where they left off, rushing up the stairwell with the binder tanking a few rounds of lightning bolts before they reached the top. She couldn't shred the slaad responsible on the first round, because the spiral staircase stopped her from getting those charging bonuses, but the second let her annihilate it and one of the remaining human guards as well. Meanswhile the priestess stopped just below the landing and used her whip to disarm one of the guards through the gap in the stairwell's edge. She tried to trip another, but the dice were not with her that time. Meanwhile, the others all got into position behind the binder. After those couple of rounds of combat, the githyanki activated his planeshft power, taking them to somewhere in Bytopia well clear of any notable landmarks. Once there (and one check for wandering monsters later to make sure they didn't wind up blundering into a fight with some high power celestials) they used the enveloping pit to get back to Ruun-Khazai. There they commandeered the public baths in the dome to engage in the first part of the money laundering scheme, cleaning off beholder guts and doing just enough melting to remove the Redeagle branding from the bars & coins. They then had a lengthy debate about where to spend the money. Where was distant enough that they wouldn't have to worry about about the word getting back to Pharagos and rich enough that a bunch of high level adventurers suddenly dropping over a million gp wouldn't destabilise the economy? Sigil would be an obvious choice, but one of the other githyanki commanders had recently made the mistake of trying to move troops through there, resulting in them getting mazed and the lady of pain closing up all the direct gates between Sigil and Tu'narath, requiring another lengthy planar trip to get to a connection. Waterdeep was another obvious one, if maybe a bit too good-aligned for this group's tastes. So after a rest to recover all their spells, they shifted off to the Plane of Molten Skies. Because the Sultan wants new arrivals to do the pilgrimage properly, this automatically made them appear right at the other end of the plane where the planes of air & earth meet, with the city itself 400 miles in the distance. (but still visible because the plane is flat and the city is huuuuuuge) But no-one said they had to walk all the way and since the priestess now has a nicely thematic flying carpet, that cut the journey down to 20 hours of two people at a time flying on it in shifts and the rest chilling in the enveloping pit.
