Let's say I wanted to convince WotC of something...

Who should I write to? What would be the best way to draw their attention to my concerns?

In this case - well, I recently acquired a laptop, and I suddenly find PDF files more convenient than books. (I still enjoy books, mind, and still want to buy them, but it's nice to have my RPG library at my fingertips.) I would therefore appreciate it if WotC would consider making PDF versions of their releases available to those who have purchased them already - perhaps they could bundle CD-ROMs or floppies with their books (this does seem impractical), or sneak in a special codeword so consumers could download PDF versions off their site, or even simply give consumers the option of downloading a PDF edition of a given book instead of having it shipped to them. In the second case, I'd be more than willing to pay a nominal fee - something comparable to the ESD prices, perhaps. (In the latter case, I would of course expect to pay full price - unless WotC was generous enough to offer shoppers in its online store the option of downloading a PDF version *and* having the print version shipped for one low price.)

I do prefer to support this industry and the companies within it, so I would prefer it if I didn't have to turn to file-sharing services for books I already own and just want on my computer - and I'm betting piracy would be cut way back if a legal option were presented.

Likewise, I'd like to think that WotC is composed of fairly reasonable people, and I don't want to start a petition or letter-writing campaign if there are more...polite channels to go through.

So...any suggestions as to how I would go about...er...making a suggestion, and having it seriously considered?

(Incidentally, I wouldn't mind seeing print-and/or-PDF options from other RPG publishers, either...hint, hint. ;) )

I dunno if Wizards of the Coast has a department for fan mail that will remain unfulfilled, but you would send your request to that department

Hi there! :)

Firstly you may want to try posting your idea on the Wizards Message Boards.

Following that; if one of the staff (not the moderators) still hasn't seen it you could try emailing Anthony Valterra.

Anthony is a great guy, very accomodating - but very busy (he gets hundreds of emails every day). His email address is:

zulkir@wizards.com

Don't expect a quick reply!

Mention Adobe's eBook Reader, it allows files for to be encoded to prevent which would help cut down on pirating. It should make such an idea more palatable.

I like the idea of having RPG books in electronic format. IMHO, it would be best if, when the book was bought, the buyer could enter a code word and download the PDF. I just couldn't see myself only buying an electronic version. Guess it's the bibliophile in me. :)

I think ebook got cracked open long ago, didn't it?

I have no idea, wouldn't surprise me though.

Even so it would still be better than nothing. If people are willing to scan an entire print book and turn it into a PDF does it matter what you do?
