Greetings!
After a 12 year hiatus from PnP the new and shiny books of D&D 4E have rekindled my role-playing fire. I’d like to DM or play in a group based in San Francisco. I’m primarily interested in staying in the city as I’ve recently sold our gas guzzling SUV. However I can host so there’s the trade off.
I tend to GM or enjoy games that can mix role-playing, fun and seriousness all together. I strongly support role-playing but don’t like it when people just take it too seriously. Nor do I like it when the adventure becomes all one liners and jokes. Everything in moderation they say. I’m 36 so looking for a mature group of players that has other interests besides just D&D, a good discussion over a beer or a BBQ can be a wonderful thing (while talking about games of course).
If I end up DMing and coordinating a group I’ll be supporting it with a web page and forums. I think forums posts can go a long way to adding content between games and it’s a great work break. I’m looking to game 2-3 times a month depending on life events. I currently live downtown and can host the event.
As a GM I believe the focus is on a great story and everyone enjoying themselves. The story is created first by the DM as a guideline and then enhanced, lived and completed by the players. The DM should never force a story down a groups throats because “I spent 14 days crafting this masterpiece!” nor should players freak out, pout or otherwise forget it’s a game when the DM has to do something out right evil.
