Thanks Caliban! I didn't know that, but now that I read the rule again, you're right!

On another note, I really don't think Bardic Knowledge should be used as a general all-purpose knowledge. It really only applies to notable, people, places and things that would be likely to be gossiped about or recorded in legend. I have to admit, however, that I am not sure where the dividing line would be between Bardic Knowledge and Knowledge History or Gather Information. There might be some overlap among them, in certain cases, but they are still distinct. Gather Information has to do with more contemporary events, whereas Bardic Knowledge has to do with stuff that has had time to become storied. Knowledge History would include a bunch of relatively colorless and obscure information that few bards would find worthy of repeating.

Bards have so few things they can actually do well that I choose not to place any limits on their bardic knowledge. They hear gossip and rumors as well as legends and histories.

In other words, you treat it as including Knowledge History and Gather Information? What about Knowledge Royalty, Knowledge Planes, Knowledge Arcana .... ?

I'm just curious how you handle it. I agree that bard's certainly could use something a little bit better.
