Sorry, don't know how this ended up on the "house rule" page. I'll make a new one on the 4E page where it belongs.

Feel free to delete this one, Mods.

Now that we have quite a bit of info on 4E, are you guys optimistic about how the new edition will turn out, or dreading it?
I don't feel as though I have "quite a bit of info on 4e". It's nice to have the compiled info appearing here on ENWorld, but even with that I really can't get a clear impression of what the game's going to be like. I can't tell if this is just WotC being closed-lipped, of if even the designers don't have a really concrete idea of how it's all going to turn out yet.

D&D 4E looks good so far from what I've read, though I still have several doubts about it:

1) Would it be 100% playable without a D&D Insider subscription?
2) Would it be different enough from 3E to make the investment in its 3 books (circa 100$ in total?) worthwhile?
3) How miniature-centric would it be?
4) How useful would be my 3E sourcebooks (such as lords of madness) with the 4E ruleset?
5) How moddable would it be (i.e. how easy would it be to create new classes, items and monsters)?

I haven't seen anything terrible, but I also haven't seen details on anything awesome.

Since I'm generally optimistic on 4e, I'm going with "looks good so far". :)

Cheers, -- N
