Living in Vegas

Remathilis

Legend
Ok, so I'm a Michigan-born son who never really set foot outside Michigan (doe Ohio count?). However, I MIGHT have an oppertunity to move to Clark County/Las Vegas, Nevada to teach in the public school system (English teacher). Problem is, I've never BEEN to Vegas, even as a vacation.

So to anyone who has lived in that area, what's it like? Aside from the Casinos and "the strip", whats normal life like down there? Bonus points if you can tell me about the school system beyond their own literature.

Clark County is one of the fastest growing in the country from what I've heard. A great place to be all around. Low crime, decent housing rates, good pay, the works.

I've only done the vacation thing there (though I do it every year). About the only thing I can tell you, is that if you're a shooter, it's a good state for that. The laws are good, and they have some nice ranges. I know this because on my vacation there every year I visit a range that rents submachineguns to shoot. Woo hoo!
