Do they play the Lone Ranger Song (last part of the William Tell Overture)?

That's what we all really want to know.

I will probably take my wife this weekend. She likes Johnny Depp.

It could have been so much better (it had the workings of a good pulp-weird-western if only it had better editing). The first thing I would have cut was
the child/old Tonto narration/framing device. Every time he appeared it was equivalent to the writer saying "I have no idea how to end this scene and the plot is going no where." I get what they were trying to do with it, but it failed because even Tonto seemed to want to roll his eyes at the kid's comments.
. I would have also cut out each utterance of the line
"What's with the mask?" since it came off as a forced meme, and wasn't funny.

They did play an updated epic version of the "Lone Ranger" theme during the last action set piece.

Didn't, won't. I just can't see this Indian wearing a crow on his head and a ton of war paint not being shot dead on sight by just about any white man who sees him. Poor Jay Silverheels must be rolling in his grave!

I wouldn't have thought another attempt as a western was a good investment. Lone Ranger just isn't the popular franchise that it was in the 50s and 60s. Pop culture sensibilities have changed.
Now, I was surprised when the pulled "THe Shadow" off, but that was almost 20 years ago. Other attempts to bring in the old radio-days pulp-action heroes into modern movies just haven't worked as well.
And I'm sure Disneyland will repurpose part of adventureland to suit this marketing opportunity.

Haven't seen it. It got panned pretty thorougtly by critics and it bombed at the box office, which doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

I'm moredately interested in Westerns myself, but I wasn't impressed by some of the trailer which show exploding trains hurtling through the air and stuff. I don't really think modern action movie sensibilities quite match the genre. I've also got mixed feelings about Depp playing Tonto. I mean on one hand he's a good actor, but seriously Hollywood, a white guy playing an Indian in 2013?
