*cracks neck* Well, if it helps much, I can understand what's going on. See, I'm a sophmore in high school, and I've been role playing for oh... a little over two years. The other players are likewise all sophmores. All of us are 15-16. As you can imagine, we are hack and slashers. We are addicted to action movies and crude humor. I'll admit that I like to get into the act with the crude jokes. It's part of the fun. We have a lot of fun outside of the game while we play. Most of us, however, had this small part of us that wants to actually role play a heroic game, one not obsessed with hack-n-slash. But all of our attempts have failed so far. None of it has been due to lack of DM prepping (he preps quite a bit), but more due to lack of a conductive environment. For some reason, whenever we get onto the 20 yard line, we just can't commit to a serious role playing campaign. Mulching goblins is just so much fun. :) After the goblin-mulching gets thin (which it's starting to become), then we'll probably all get to the point where a role-playing game is what we want. As far as the personal attacks thing, well, I know how that feels too. Neither of you wants to own up to any possible mistakes that you made, and thinks the other is lying. Been there, done that, it wasn't much fun. The best advice that I can give you is to work it out on your own, arguing gets you nowhere. Perhaps goblin-mulching still sounds like fun for the rest of the group, and you are itching for something else. In that case, you were destined to fail in your role-playing attempt. And if it's any help, I know how the players feel. It's really too easy to screw off during a game. I don't know what it is, but all of us (even the DM) like to mess around during games. Perhaps it's just our age.
