Looking for a beardless dwarf in plate...

OK, I'll never find a beardless one, but does anyone have suggestions for a dwarf in plate mail?

I already know I'll have to get rid of the beard. And I'll be changing the weapon to a scythe. And probably adding spikes to the plate mail.

I've found a human that has a design that would work for this conversion--Black Legionnaires of Malvernis. But I'm not sure which dwarf to try and convert. I've already got a scythe from Ashkrypt the Lich (and as a bonus, the piece isn't assembled, so I don't even have to cut the scythe off).

So, any thoughts on which dwarf to try and convert. (I'm not very experienced at conversion, but I do have a dremel and some friends who are more experienced at it than me).

Thanks for any thoughts/opinions!

Couple of possibilities, but it's hard to tell in from some of these images:

(of course, this one is female)

(I like this one b/c he has a long hafted weapon already and some plate)

Out of curiousity, why beardless?

Also, when looking for a mini for a specific PC or NPC, you have to prioritize what features are most important to you? From your post, it sounds like the main things you want are:

  1. Beardless
  2. Dwarf
  3. Scythe
  4. Plate Armor
    [/list=1]

What's most important for the mini? What's the least? Decide that and go from there.

    Hope this helps.

kengar may be on to something, BN, look for a female dwarf, then perform a simple operation. Might be easier than shaving a dwarf.

This is one of te only beardless dwarf minis I've ever seen (at least it looks like he is beardless), but he is bear chested (and wearing a kilt!) and carying a huge axe. Not what your lookig for maybe, but one of the best dwarf minis I've ever seen.

kengar - thanks for the possibilities! I will check them out. Why beardless? Well, the character is beardless. No particular reason, just a distinguishing characteristic I made up for this guy (my first Living Greyhawk character). Naturally, in one year of playing LG I have run into two other hairless dwarves--but they were monks who shaved. Mine just can't grow a beard; hence his name, Barendd Nobeard.

I think it really needs to be a dwarf, for the size/height issue on the tabletop. (I have a beardless one already--altered by Sandra Garrity at GenCon last year--but the armor and weapons are totally wrong.)

The scythe is his signature weapon, and he wears full plate. If I had to ignore one aspect, it would be the plate armor. It is harder for me to pick something to drop from the other three components (dwarf, beardless, scythe). If I drop scythe from the list, I already have a figure. I would like to stop using that figure Sandra Garrity altered--I am paranoid that it will get damaged during play.

thalmin - I had considered that. On a lot of the figs, the beards are quite "sprawling", so I may go the cross-gender route.

Aristotle - that is a great fig! Wow. I might try that one--ditch the armor and convert the weapon. Thanks!

Unusual coincidence... my favorite all time character was a dwarven Wizard I played when 3rd Edition first came out, named Barrend (strange enough there). His distinguishing characteristic was that he died after being hit by two consecutive Fireballs and was then resurrected. Unfortunately, the flames consumed his body hair. Being that he was already persona-non-grata for being a Wizard, he decided to stay hairless, and shaved daily. Needless to say, when I saw your name, I almost fell out.

And to keep this somewhat on topic, anyone know where I can find a good Dwarven Wizard that is NOT Games Workshop based? Sorry to hijack a thread... please continue...

Great! I love beardless dwarf stories. :)

I just got the first name (Barendd) right out of the 3e PHB.

Reaper makes a dwarven cleric that could be a wizard. It's #2601: Grimm Grayrune. While he is wearing some kind of robe, it also looks like he might be wearing armor. :( I'll keep looking....

Go ahead and hijack the thread. I don't mind--I got what I came for. :D
