Looking for a creature

Hey all, running Speaker in Dreams in about one hour, converting it to 3.5 ruleset. I only have run into one problem, that is that in 3.0 the Osyluth is CR 6 but in 3.5 its CR 9. My group is pretty uber but that thing would kill them pretty fast. Would love some suggestions on how to bring his CR down or a creature to take his place. Thanks for the help.
