Good comics eh? A few good picks that you should be able to find in stands now ... Midnight Nation and Rising Stars , both by B5 creator JMS. Midnight Nation is as previously said about a man looking for his soul and Rising Stars is a different take on superheros, with a Higlander/Jet Li's The One twist. Warren Ellis, my fav author, also has written a lot of good stuff like Transmetropolitan -- which tells the stories of Spider Jerusalem, an hot shot reporter in a messed up cyberpunk-ish american metropolis of the future and his fight against both a corrupt president and the society as a whole. Some really good stuff and IMO the best series in stores right now. --, Planetary -- a story of secret service investigators that are investigating the paranormal and supernatural of a superhero world. A rather different take on the whole superhero mythos -- and Strange Kisses/Stranger Kisses/Strange Killings -- some heavy duty and incredibly gory sci-fi --. In the fantasy department I can offer you Battle Chasers an Manga-ish story. Not very heavy reading, but quite entertaining. A popcorn flick of comics. The US comic market as a rule is not very good when it comes to fantasy. I have never read Warlands or Steampunk but I'm told that both are silimar to Battle Chasers. For good fantasy go the Manga or european route, although I think that eurocomics are hard to access in the states. Yeah, and Groo, probably the best US fantasy series evah!! Those are the first to spring to mind although there are a lot of good comics out there now.
