More good authors... Brian Micheal Bendis has gone from being a nobody to being one of the biggest names in the comic world in just a couple of years. What makes him so good is his excellent and realistic dialouge and character creation. The people in his stories talk and feel real. Who better then to pen the relaunch of Spider-Man in Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, without a second thought probably the best written Spider-Man story ever (althogh I'm told that JMS's Amazing Spider-Man is pretty good too. I haven't read it myself). Other good Bendis work include his work on Daredevil, his three crime thrillers for Image Goldfish, Jinx and Torso (Torso being my fav, tells the story of Elliot Ness fighting a serial killer in Cleveland). In a similar feel is Alias, Powers, a story of two cops investigating metahuman crimes, and Sam and Twitch, which takes the Spawn sidekicks into a serial killer investigation. He also wrote the stand-alone story Fortune and Glory, an autobiography of when he tried to make it in Hollywood as a writer. Other work of Warren Ellis than the ones previously mentioned are Lazarus Churchyard: The Final Cut, his first real comic work that just came out in a TPB, about an immortal junkie in a futuristic cyberpunk world. Then there is Stormwatch, the superhero title he got hired to finish with a bang (which he did) and it's spin-off, The Authority, ubermunchkin fascist superheros rule the world (is now currently being penned by Mark Millar, the writer of Ultimate X-Men, another good title).
