Looking for a mendicant priest or friar PC

First Post
I'm starting a new campaign in a few months and one of the players would like to play a priest who takes a vow of poverty but is very engaging and charismatic. Does anyone know of a mendicant priest-type Prestige Class that gives good charisma-based skills and skill points and maybe has some sort of conversion ability--that is they can talk enemies into rethinking their evil deeds?

I'm looking up some stories on St. Francis of Assisi for inspiration (both on the prestige class and on the order of priests) but if there is something out there that's already balanced I'd like to see it. Any ideas?

Thanks,

not a prestige class or exactly what you're looking for but ... you might want to check out malhavoc press' "book of hallowed might" for some sworn oath feats, etc for mechanics inspiration. beyond that, maybe swap out turning undead for 2 extra skill points/level and a couple more class skills?

The Oathbound campaign setting has a PrC that revolves around talking at things and thus swaying them...I think it's some sort of politician, but you could probably adapt it.

FFTd20 should eventually have the Mediator class, so that could work (though it's down the road a bit).

I don't see any need for a new class for what you propose. You just need to make a bunch of "feel" adjustments to clerics that require no actual changes in game mechanics.

You might want to take a look at the Avatar's Handbook by Green Ronin. The basic concept of the Avatar is of a charismatic divine spellcaster who summons the hosts of heaven, but it could easily do what you intend. It's less martial than the cleric, with d6 HD and sorcerer's BAB, but uses Charisma as its spellcasting attribute, with the same progression as a Sorcerer (but with more spells known). They also have 4 skill points/level, and good charisma skills.

That sounds pretty close to what I'm looking for--Thanks!
