I am pretty certain such a prestige class doesn't exist in the "official D&D" catalog. It probably wouldn't break the game to allow it though. I'd use arcane heirophant or eldritch theurge as a model for how to do it.

Maybe as a basic framework:
I present... THE SOLOIST!

Prerequisites:
K. Arcana 9 ranks, Perform (any) 9 ranks, Spellcraft 9 ranks, Bardic Music, Inspire Courage, Inspire Competence (or equivalent ability if ACF is used), 2nd level sorcerer/wizard spells, Songbird familiar (grants +3 to Perform), Skill Focus: Perform, Spell Focus: Enchantment

Features:

BAB: Poor
Saves: Fort: Poor Ref: Good Will: Good

Skills: 4+Int Mod
All bard skills

Features:

+1/+1 caster level progression
Soloist level stack with bard levels for determining daily usages of bardic music and the Inspire Courage bonus
Bonus feats @ 1, 4, 7, and 10
List: Extra Music, Force of Personality, Haunting Melody, Lingering Song, Lyric Spell, Melodic Casting, Metamagic Song, Sound of Silence, Subsonics, Versatile Spellcaster

Thoughts?

Looks good to me.

Has the PRC name "Spellsinger" been taken yet?

Prerequisites should be something like:

Bardic Music, Songbird as a Familiar (just because), and Perform: Bagpipes 5

Okay, I'm getting silly.

Realistically I'll probably go Sublime Chord.

The bard in my current party would take this PrC for sure. Not sure if that would be a vote for "Great PrC idea!" or "Holy crap it's broken!" but I like the idea.

Prerequisites? Obviously Wizard or Sorcerer levels, as well as Bardic Music.

Enough Diplomacy to talk your DM into allowing it?

Okay, more seriously, Perform ranks of 7? 10? Spellcraft or Arcana of 7? 10?

Does the new class have armor restrictions as per Wiz/Sorc, or as per Bard?

And yes, the Spellsinger name is in use, in Races of Faerun. Not familiar with what it is/does, but I'll look into it.
