Looking for a setting...

...that mixes fantasy with real medieval history. Or at least patterns itself after the real world.

Something with a conan-esque flavor, but real world locations?

Does this exist?

Yeah Iron Heroes is good...

But the Scarred Lands are better! ;)

We got druids that aren't nature clerics!

Sorcerers that are more than just "draconic ancestor" casting peoples.

Places like the Hornsaw Forest dripping with blood, death, blood, undead, hags, blood, and oh yeah lots of death. ;)

Scarred Lands are all well and good, NF, but they're not what he was asking for. They don't even remotely try to pattern themselves after the real world, let alone incorporate historical sites.

You're not going to drum up any interest by throwing it in people's faces when they're specifically looking for something else.

Well...one never knows what one TRULY wants until one tries it Ari, right?

I mean I have tried Iron Heroes. I've tried AE/AU. I've even tried Black Company, Freeport and even Thieves World. (Admittedly I liked the books so that might bias me a tad more.)

I'm just saying, it never hurts to try something out and if you don't like it, sell it to me! ;)

I thought they ate livers in Egypt... ;)

Hm.

What kind of system? D&D, d20 fantasy, d20 past-ish, other?

With that sorted, you might have better luck finding something that suits. Or perhaps, deciding to simply use historical reference books and use your system of choice. . .

Actually, no.

I know that if I go online looking for a setting that, say, doesn't use elves and dwarves, you're not going to convince me that what I really want is , say, Eberron or Kalamar. I know what I'm looking for--a setting with no elves and dwarves.

If the guy had just said "Sell me on a setting," that'd be one thing. But he knows what he's looking for; trying to point him in a different direction is going to prove useless at best, and irritating at worst.

I'm all for pimping the Scarred Lands, but do it where it's called for, or at least on-topic (like it would have been in the Titans thread somewhere down the page). In this thread, it was neither.

There was a Titans thread?!! And I missed it!? Darn it. :p

Fine, whatever. Still think the guy might like the Scarred Lands.

*would never sell anyone Eberron or Kalamar* But only because a) Eberron has a large fan base here and b) Mark Chance is good at pimping Kalamar.
