Naming it Aopa, I have now been using that same world for multiple gaming groups over the last 8 years. Slaying the evil Lich King for the treasure is great but wouldn’t it be better if your character’s name was permanently part of the history books? Bards and storytellers would sing songs of your tales. You could become the next evil Lich King that future adventurers would battle or you could even ascend to godhood.I have decided to try this concept out on a larger scale, spreading it out to multiple groups that would be DM’d by whoever would be willing to take on the task. The difference between this and other “living” worlds is that this would all be done via the internet. You would still play in your homes or local stores but you post what you do on the internet. It would be similar to a newsgroup but role-playing instead. I would post monthly individual adventures/goals and the participating groups would work those into their gaming sessions and then report back on what happened. I would then post a monthly Aopa gazetteer, if you will, describing all the events that had happened and any other news related to those events. This is how the history of the world progresses and how you get to be a part of it. Currently, this is a beta test. I’m looking to get some feedback from anyone interested in participating. I would be looking to get this started sometime in the next few months. I would need willing DMs to run the adventures and report back. There are many more details to work out but again, this is a beta test for something I would like to launch on a much larger scale sometime in the future.
