Looking for ideas for "environment" sounds.

The thread about background music got me into thinking about perfecting my own D&D playlist. I like using background music and each time these threads popup, I start itching to get more music

I just recently got the idea to use both background music, and nature sounds at the same time. It is actually really amazing to do! I can't wait to try it at our next game and see what the players think.

I have playlists for things like "forest music", "cavern music", & "battle music". Since I run a Planescape campaign, I've gone as far as to make playlists for each outer & inner plane. I just got a cd with nature sounds, like birds in a forest, birds in a jungle, insects in a swamp, rainfall, thunderstorm, ect ect. I play my background music playlist with Winamp, and then I play a looped nature mp3 in Media Player. So when my mellow forest songs are going, I now hear birds chirping. Or my exotic Outlands playlist plays with the swamp insects buzzing. I was amazed at how much more it draws me into the scenario.

So now I'm craving more nature sounds. Does anyone know of any tracks that I could download that would be good for D&D? What are some ideas for other environments? Maybe fire crackling for a volcano environment? Got any suggestions?

Also, I'd like a marketplace track, something with a crowd of people that sounds like a farmers market or something. I found very little of that on amazon and most of it had modern day noises mixed in (cars, ect).

Well, you seem to have covered most of the bases...

You might want to look for one that is something like..."Island breeze" or the like. I have one like that (currently in a box somewhere) that starts off with gentle surf, progresses to wind through trees and bamboo stands- including insect, bird and monkey sounds- and eventually back to the beach.
