Make him not a crackpot but someone quiet and intense and convincing--more of an Oliver Stone type of character, someone who has a theory that you may not agree with but makes a disturbing amount of sense. When he makes a speech, have it be less thud and blunder and more of something you have built up to with what seems like the good sense of a misunderstood man.</blockquote>
