[QUOTE="Altalazar, post: 3591479, member: 939"] I'm working on a new psion power. Here's a rough description of what I'd like it to do: Memory Mastery Telepathy Level: 9 Range: Touch Area of Effect: One mind Manifestation Time: one round Duration: Instantaneous, or One Day per level (see below) Other stuff in stat block: TBD, but pretty standard This power can do different things depending on what you want to do with it. The options include: Restore lost memories - restores memories lost through any means to a creature who has memory loss. This restoration can be selective, with the psion choosing which memories to restore. However, if this is selectively done, the subject receives a Will save to avoid the selectivity and restore all lost memories. Erase memories - erase all memories or selectively erase memories from a subject. This use of the power allows a Will save. Protect memories, other - this encapuslates a selected set of memories within a subject so that they cannot be accessed by anyone, including the subject. This memories can be unlocked only by a specific trigger phrase or by a further use of this power, though if the further use is by a different psion than the original creator of the protection, the subject gets a will save to avoid the unlocking of the memories. The psion can use this form of the power on himself. Alter memories - to alter memories in a subject - obviously a will save for this one, too. Perhaps an increased manifestation time for this one, of at least a minute or more. Protect memories, self - this protects the psion's own memories from tampering - no memories may be implanted, erased, or altered from any source, not even a wish (similar to a mind blank type of protection). Only a manifestation of this power can unlock those memories, and this allows the psion a will save with a +1 bonus for every level the psion exceeds the level of the psion attempting to break loose the memories. This form of the power lasts for one day per level. Extra power points - perhaps have extra points spent give a bonus to the various Will saves in favor of the person resisting? - alternatly, every 2 extra power points can raise the DC to resist for an unwilling subject. (Standard fare for augmenting). =================================================== This may or may not be too much for a single power, even one of 9th level. On the plus side, there are several other powers that do quite a lot that are 9th level. Also on the plus side is the fact that most of these powers are really useless in combat, so on a game balance basis, really the primary consideration would be the memory erasure power. It could be taken out of the realm of combat entirely by increasing the manifestion time for all uses of this power. There also aren't that many ways to have memory erased in the game, so the protection aspect of it probably won't come up very often - not like the all-encompasing mind-blank power. So, what I'm looking for input on is three things: 1- tweaks to the description of the power 2- input as to whether this should all fit as a single 9th level power (and if not, how it could) 3- secondary input - if not one 9th level power, what would make sense to split it into as multiple powers (this I disfavor - I'd rather find a way to keep it a single 9th level power).
