Looking for retro-style fantasy artists (for Dungeon Crawl Classics)

goodmangames

First Post
Goodman Games is looking for artists capable of producing retro-style fantasy art for our Dungeon Crawl Classics line. These old-school modules feature art reminiscent of the work of Jeff Dee, Erol Otus, Bill Williamson, James Roslof, and the other legends of TSR from the late 70s and early 80s.

Right now we have an immediate need for color illustrators, and also anticipate a need for additional B/W illustrators soon. Please note that all work for this line must be hand-generated. You must be able to work in traditional mediums; we're not looking for digital illustration.

If you're interested, please contact me at info@goodman-games.com. I prefer a link to a web site rather than attached samples. If that's not possible, attachments up to 2 MB total size are fine. This is paid work.

For examples of what the Dungeon Crawl Classics line looks like, please check out these recent releases...

Your links all say 'gmes.com' instead of 'games.com'. Might wanna fix that.

Does an image drawn by hand using accurate pencil algorithms in high resolution on a pressure-sensitive tablet count as non-digital? I'm scared of wasting real art resources...

classic rendering

Personally i think its sounds great. Though digital art is wonderful (i love the functionality and versatility of my tablet), I must say there is something about finishing a piece of work using a tanglable medium on paper, bristol or canvas. I think its the bonus of having an original. The extra craftsmanship, the texture of the paint, how the paper or canvas takes the medium, the sheen of the ink.. not to mention it shows a little bit more about the artist behind the work itself (technique, confidence, style, etc). All the things left behind with modern technology.

Anyways, not to derail the thread.. i'll see if i can emulate some of those classic styles we grew up with in the days of old. I'm working on a few things right now, but hopefully i can finish these soon and send some pieces your direction with the correct 'feel' to them for you to take a gander over.

That'd be great! Just send them over when you have a chance.
