Looking for tips on dragons in humanoid form

1. As a DM, I'm looking for ideas on how to play good dragons who have polymorphed into humanoids. What are their motives? What might be their occupation? Do they use the job as a disguise, or use their powers for good, as counselor or even adventurer?

The "crunch" is easy here, it is the "fluff" that I'm looking for.

2. I remember from years ago a story set in Dragonlance about a hero falling in live with a silver dragon? Anyone know of a book that tells the story well?

3. For more dragons-as-humanoid background, I'm also interested in the FR story of Tchazzer, the red dragon who was king of Chessenta for a time (if I'm remembering correctly). Any books that talk about that besides the FR Campaign Guide, which I already have? Was there a FR novel written on it?

Thanks.

Well, if you were going to live for more than a thousand years, were very powerful and in some repects, a target for certain people who wanted your alleged horde of wealth, wouldn't you take the occasional 20-50 year "sabbatical" from living as a Dragon and explore the humanoid world around you?

There are an unlimited number of reasons to do any number of things.

You've got the time, you probably have the wealth, you've got the power.

"Sigh. I'm bored. That sea coast was lovely, but they'll freak out if I move in there in this form. Maybe I'll pack my bags and go live in that village as a human for a couple of decades, just to relax and enjoy the view."

I'd base it on the personality of the given dragon. One will do it for a lark, another will do it from curiosity, a third will do it for power, a fourth might want to get the humanoids to do something secretly (not necessarily the same as power), a fifth is a sexual deviant who just likes having sex with humanoids (yup, he's the reason for all those half-dragons out there), and so on.

Good dragons usually live as humanoids as a sort of novelty experience, unless they have a specific task that requires the frail humanoid body to accomplish. I once ran a wyrmling gold as an NPC, to great effect. I gave him the mentality of a child; he had polymorphed into a dashing young man in order to act out the epic romance sagas that he was obsessed with. He was preceded in the adventure by the Lady Gaida that 'Sir Pendan' had 'fallen in love' with. When the party finally met the 'errant knight', they soon started dropping comments like 'Ugh, not another paladin!' despite the various hints that I dropped that Sir Pendan was not as he appeared. When they finally witnessed Sir Pendan morph into his true form, they were all like 'Holy crap!!! How did this happen?!'

About that Dragonlance story, the knight was Sturm Brightblade and the dragon's name was Silviana though that might have just been a 'cover name' for her while in elf form...it's been a long time since reading the Chronicles. In any case, their love story was a passing event that was more or less skimmed over, and I don't know of any book that goes into any more depth about the two of them. If there is, it'd probly be written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

right story, wrong character. Sturm was in love with the elf princess from Silvanost, it was one of the lesser main characters, an elf, who's name I can't recall at the moment from Qualinost, who IIRC, actually survived the whole war of the lance. Any more i couldn't tell ya, I stopped reading Dragonlance after 'Dragons of Spring Dawning'

I believe Donald Trump is a Gold Dragon in human form. He used his small hoard as a young dragon to build a property empire and multiply his horde by billions.

Trump has a horde?

*boggles at the image of thousands of berserkers in bad haripieces charging helpless villagers with the war-cry, "You're fired!"*

The elf's name is Gilthanas. He's one of the two primary antagonists in the upcoming Dragonlance campaign module Price of Courage, which also deals with the final fate of that relationship.
