It plays pretty well, but it's a bit of a pain to learn as the rulebook is somewhat disorganized. If you've played D&D, MegaTraveller, or Runequest, it's pretty easy to pick up, the game has similarities to all three. As a first RPG for somebody new to the hobby - which given the license is what it really should have been for many - it's not so good. On the order of 8 or so published. I think there might be more as PDFs, I know there were some freebie adventures distributed for download. Kind of in limbo. I don't believe Decipher plans to publish any more supplements in dead tree format, but I think there are plans to keep on making PDF products for as long as they hold the license (and since it's tied to the profitable CCG license, that'll probably be a while). The core rulebook is still pretty widely available and I imagine they'll reprint it as necessary. IMHO it's a much better ruleset for Middle Earth gaming than MERP, but it's kinda hamstrung by the terms of the license, which appear to link products pretty specifically to the movies. So Decipher couldn't explore the Fourth Age or delve back into the Silmarillion the way ICE did. I personally prefer a freebie RPG called Legends of Middle Earth for my Tolkienesque gaming (which is restricted to occasional one-shots), but the Decipher stuff makes for excellent source material about the end of the Third Age. It's worth picking up on that basis, I think.
