I was half expecting him to turn out to be an English-speaker as well, and I'm glad that the writers didn't go that route. I was hoping he'd take Sun up on her offer to start over, but I think his realization must have been that there was too much history to just brush it away- aside from the business with her father, and her lies about learning English and planning to leave him, he'd been lying to her for far longer about his father. At the same time, by helping out with Michael on the raft, I think he's trying to make himself a better man than he'd become. Kind of ironic after Locke's speech to Shannon about "starting a new life" that Jin seems to want to (IMO) make up for his past without ignoring it.Speaking of which, it seems to me that the "shaman" Locke may not exactly be comfortable in the role which he seems to have fallen into. Seems like he only gives his sage advice when people start bringing him into their business- when Shannon confronts him about Boone, when Charlie confronts him about the drugs, etc. For all that he comes across as the wise man on the mount, I get an undercurrent of him being uneasy with interacting with others- which makes sense, given his past (he wasn't much of a "real people" person). I get the feeling he may even be a little contemptuous of others when he is "forced" to bring them to a realization- after all, he's a self-made man on this island; he has turned himself into the person he has always wanted to be, so why should he force feed growth to others who can't help themselves?Of course, he doesn't have this attitude with Walt, but I think that he feels more comfortable with the kid than with the adults.Anyway, this was a really good episode. I especially loved the part with Jin and his father. Very cool scene.What the F's the deal with the hatch, though?</blockquote>
