If you all would pardon the conversation with my video gaming alt... ;) Naw, I don't believe my statement is. For example, the best episode from Season One was easily Walkabout, where we learned about Locke being in a wheelchair prior to arriving on the Island. Sure, there is still the mystery of how the Island's healing powers work and to what extent they work and that was what we learned from that ep. But what carried it was the Locke character. I agree that you need both but it is much more important to care about the characters than the mysteries. That's what a character based story is versus a plot-driven story is, where the characters aren't as important as what they do to advance the plot. I still believe that is where most people get annoyed with the show. I would argue that we have enough information about the Island's healing powers such as Rose's cancer and Sun's pregnancy, not to mention Sawyer's very quick recovery from removing a bullet from himself with his finger (this one is debatable). So now the question most people are interested in is how John got in the wheelchair and how it affects his character. The resolution to that should tie into the rest of his arc on the Island and as it appears to be the reason as to why he is motivated to stay there. But it could tie into his death as we have seen happen with other characters who resolve the major issues in their life. I agree. I agree again, there needs to be something at stake for the characters and something new to reveal to the viewers. I'm still enjoying things and I've given the reasons why.
