LOST Appendages

I have noticed on LOST recently that there is a reoccurring theme of character who are missing limbs. These are all secondary, or even tertiary characters, and the missing limbs is probably just another one of a large number of consistent themes that are really just red herrings.

However, consider;

Ray Mullen, in Tabula Rasa, only has his left arm, having already lost his arm. He, as compared to Dr. Marvin Candle/Dr. Mark Wickman, lost his right arm.

Sam Toomey’s widow, in Numbers, was missing a leg, which she lost in a freak automobile accident.

Montand, according to Rousseau’s dialogue during Exodus: Part 1, while exploring the dark territory lost his arm.

Dr. Marvin Candle/Dr. Mark Wickman, appears in Orientation and ?, apparently lost an arm at some point during his involvement with the Hanso Foundation’s work on the island. He, as compared to Ray Mullen, lost his left arm.

Hibbs, who appears in Outlaws, may have been missing a finger.

So, unless I'm missing someone, that is three lost arms, one lost leg, and one possibly lost finger.

Huh? When did he lose an arm? In the Swan orientation video he didn't seem to have control of or be able to use his left arm but it was there.
