The Death Roll I've only had a few chances to actually play but just a couple of weeks ago I had a character die. I'd only played him in two sessions but he was just about to go up a level and WHAM! walked straight into a blade barrier cast by a... hrm, I think it was a ghaele aladrin... might've been a trumpet archon or an astral deva though... don't ask why we were fighting a celestial... Man that spell is broken :D As for DM'ing in 3rd ed... heh, I've killed my fair share of PC's. Hmm... let's see, there was the troll rending the bard in half (-26 hit points... man that was cool :D ); the green dragon (I switched Utreshimon as a green instead of a blue because it made absolutely no sense whatsoever for a blue to be making a new home in a friggin' forest/swamp) who killed the bard (again) in mid-flight in the same round that he killed the dwarven cleric... that was a good combat :D Umm... the dwarven cleric died again when he walked into the gaze range of a basilisk. The Greyman's base (a rogue/assassin doppleganger... OUCH!) killed off a few... for some reason the players simply HAD to take this guy on simply because he sent a few dozen bandits after them after they left twon because they had spent THOUSANDS of GP in the town and thus he felt they were rich enough to get robbed. They KNEW he was more powerful than them but they HAD to take him on and so they got squished. Twice. There were a few other 3rd ed. games I ran but they were all once offs or short runs so I don't really remember them. Now if we were talking 2nd ed. or GURPS...
