The show will come full circle. The survivors now become the new "Others". They've been on the island for awhile, they know a lot of it's secrets and yet there are things they do not know (like the current others). They live in the Dharma/Others camp and make their own society. Eventually, new people will reach the island one way or another, and the "survivors/new others" are now in the position the current Others are in.
A couple more thoughts (much happened this episode, didn't it?) First... One of my favorite episodes in a LONG time. Liked it much better than the season premiere... So are the people on the boat really "bad" and going to kill everyone like Ben said? Or are they just bad for Ben (since they seem to ONLY be after Ben)? My initial thought is the 4 rescuers really aren't bad, they seem innocent enough, but the people they are working for (on the boat) may really be bad people, they just don't realize who they are working for yet... So we have the Dharma Initiative as this "secret" organization. And now it seems the Oceanic Airline company is also a dubious organization. Making up the fake footage. Who were the two people in the underwater rovers that discovered the wreckage of 815? I got the impression they are just two random people who came across the wreckage, let Oceanic Airlines know they found it, then Oceanic faked some images and info about the crash. What ever happened to them? If Oceanic faked the info about the wreckage, I would have to imagine they would need to do something about the people who discovered it?... OR... do the people using the underwater rovers have some deeper connection to everything? Are they "in" on the fake wreckage? Also, the news broadcast about the wreckage showed where it was found. I assume this was also a lie? Or do we now know approximately where the LOST island is??? Any thoughts as to why Daniel Faraday had such a strong reaction seeing the wreckage (fake wreckage at that)? Also... The Oceanic Six means out of the 48 survivors, only 6 leave the island. I know a few of the original 48 survivors have already died, but that is a LOT of people left over to not be rescued. So what happens to them? Are they ALL killed some how? Or do they choose to stay on the island rather than be resuced? Most of these people are no-name characters too... So my theory is this. They have to protect themselves and hide and be secretive, because they don't want to be found. I just see this coming full circle. And lets remember, when the Dharma Init was there, there were other people on the island (which Ben became part of). So that begs the question, were there other-other people there? So the groups look like this: 1) Original Inhabitants (OI) live on island (this is the faction Richard Alpart belongs to) 2) Dharma shows up 3) OI takes out Dharma w/ the help of Ben 4) other people show up on island peridoically, such as Danielle and Desmond, but have no real influece and cause no real threat to the existance of the OI 5) Oceanic 815 Survivors show up 6) OI becomes "the Others" 7) Thanks to the 815 survivors, "the Others" become dispearsed So is there a group before #1 that OI either took out or emerged from? I surmise that #8 would be the 815 Survivors become the new Others and are now in their position as they do not want anyone to find them. Hence the name of the show, LOST? They don't want to be found...
