Again, none of the notebooks have been picked up in a long time, if at all. Why are they still doing food drops and not collecting the observations? My guess would be that the only interest Dharma has in the island anymore is to make sure the button keeps getting pressed. They have probably abandoned absolutely everything else, and just drop the food down there to make sure the people pushing the button don't die off.The implications of this theory are that a) the Others may not be connected to Dharma at all (like many people, myself included, have previously assumed), and b) someone must be making efforts to ensure that there is a steady stock of people to come and replace the button pushers on the island- maybe Widmore Industries has been contracted out for this purpose? (Hence, as someone else suggested, the "boat race")I agree.
