All the shops in the UK had it for sale on Friday.

As today is a holiday I've had a bit of a marathon Started with BBC Radio adaptation of the Hobbit, then FOTR and now TTT.

I've decided to by the theathrical versions and then going to buy the final super duper all 3 movies box set.

My Wife (winding up some people in my FLGS): I don't believe it, not only did was the movie a blantant rip-off of D&D, they now have the cheek to release it as a RPG [gamers start mumbling, sound of d4 being sharpened]

Does she enjoy riling people up like this normally?

I'm no fanatic, so I can't say whether this was street date, but here in New Zealand I was instructed to pick up the preorder copy that my father placed on Tuesday 26th. (Today, that is.) So I did. So I's got it. And thanks to the special voucher program we subscribe to, we were able to get a microscopic keyring with the purchase for free! Yeah!

re

I'm only buying the Extended Edition myself. Make them as long as possible I say. Why even bother buying the regular edition? You're just going to end up buying the extended edition later if you really like the movie.

But i'm such a LoTR movie fanatic that I want both, and both DVD's have different special features. Thats the main reason I want both.

Screener copy. Bought it off the net.

Not sure how legal it is. Came out of Singapore I believe. It doesn't have any special features and occasionally, during important scenes, the words "For your consideration" pop up at the bottom for about 5 seconds.

That was one of the Oscar copies sent out to the Academy voters to get them to vote for Two Towers on their Oscar ballots. They used to be VHS but technology has caught up and now they've got pretty good DVD versions. I've got one and it's actually a pretty decent copy, not quite as good as the fully-mastered DVD, but close.

- James (who knows he'll be up late tonight, 'cause how do you NOT watch the whole thing once it starts...)

I am waiting to tape the pay per view extended version. I don't plan on buying the dvds until after the release of the Return of the King on dvd to get the deluxe edition extended version trilogy set. I might rent it to see the Return of the King trailer, but for me, there is no point in wasting money until I can buy the full meal deal.
