I heard PJ say that he will need 3.5 hours to tell the story of RoTK, and thats what he is pushing for for the theactical version.
I don't doubt it. Most directors would like as much time as possible to tell their story.

Re

I don't even know why they bother with the regular edition. Most people I know end up buying both anyway. Those who buy both claim they are going to wait for the extended edition rather than buy both this time around anyhow. I hate waiting till November for the extended edition.

Casual fans don't buy the extended, especially at the price they sell it at. They need something they can sell for around $20 that the general populous will purchase. And besides, they need to actually finish the extended before they can release it. :p

The MPAA has already issued a PG-13 rating for the extended version, so maybe we'll get it sooner than November. Unless it takes them that long to prepare all the behind-the-scenes goodies.

Not me. I'm still going to buy both theatrical and extended versions.
