Lots of Touch and Spell questions

Leopold

I have a player who asked me some questions i don't know too much about and thought the boards could help me out:

1. can touch spells be delived via unarmed strike?
2. can you chanel a touch into your weapon? example i channel the spell
cause light wounds into my weapon, and hit does the spell work?
3. if i can chanel the spell into my weapon does the spell still get the touch AC, and my attack get normal AC, or does the spell get moved up to needing to get through normal AC instead of touch AC? (i think the prior is the more logical ruling on this) example: i successfuly chanel cause light wounds into my weapon and attack my total attack roll is 18, and the oponent has a normal AC of 20 but a touch AC of 14. the spell goes off but i do no damage from my weapon. because the spell hit and the weapon missed.

i said yes to 2 and 3. Am i correct? 1. i don't know for sure.

Thanks!

Yup!

Not unless you have a special ability that allows you to do so (i.e. T&B Channel Spell ability of the Spellsword PrC) or you are using a weapon that has a similar special ability.

3. if i can chanel the spell into my weapon does the spell still get the touch AC, and my attack get normal AC, or does the spell get moved up to needing to get through normal AC instead of touch AC? (i think the prior is the more logical ruling on this) example: i successfuly chanel cause light wounds into my weapon and attack my total attack roll is 18, and the oponent has a normal AC of 20 but a touch AC of 14. the spell goes off but i do no damage from my weapon. because the spell hit and the weapon missed.

Unless the spell specifies otherwise, you choose to do a physical unarmed strike (like a punch) or you choose to do a touch attack. Not both. Luckily however, the touch spell remains for subsequent attacks if you missed the first one until you strike something that will successfully discharge the spell or you cast another spell.

If you don't already have a copy of the Official D&D 3rd. Ed. FAQ then you should probably head over to WotC's website and grab a copy. It will be extremely helpful as most of these questions have been asked before.

1) Touch spells can be delivered via an unarmed attack, but it is then considered a weapon, and uses the std. AC instead of touch attack AC.
2 & 3) Channeling a spell into your weapon is the Spellsword's class ability, not available to everyone... unless you want everyone to have it, that is. ;)
