Out of the sky falls a sight never before seen in these lands. A flying carpet, large enough to hold a small house settles to the ground with a mere whisper of air. The carpet itself is scarlet and gold. And upon it sits a tent also of scarlet and gold. From out of the tent strides a man. A large man. He is barechested and clad in trunks of the same scarlet as the tent. His boots are golden and the toes curl up and back to a point. Upon his head is a strange turban bejewled with priceless wealth all accenting an enormous red ruby. A huge scimitar hangs from the mans belt, also extensively covered in jewels enough to feed a family for years. The man himself is impressively muscled under his tanned skin, and his mustache and beard are immaculately groomed.

In his left hand, the man holds the end of a chain which is soon revealed to lead behind him to a collar around the neck of a beautiful woman in purple silks and a veil who strides out of the tent in tow behind what must be her master. Her eyes are painted a dark black, with long eyelashes which only serve to accent the sparkling amethyst of her eyes. Gold braclets and anklets jingle with her every soft step until she stops behind her Sultan as he speaks.

"I am the Sultan, and I would accept your challenge, but my power would destroy you and scatter your remains unto the four winds! I will therefore do you a great service. My servant here shall battle you in my place. Who knows, perhaps if she beats you for me, I shall reward her with my special attentions." His smile at this statement is broad and vulgar and Kestrel notices that the woman herself reacts to it with a small shudder before forcing herself to stare intently at the ground. "Go now, Lotus and fight well for your master!"

"I apoligize for this, but my master bids me say the following to you..."
I find your niece to be the paragon of dishonorable, your apartment to be sketchy, and your victories to be foolhardy.

P.S. I intend this character to be heavy on the roleplaying, so I apoligize if my posts are long and drawn out. To those who enjoy such stories, I hope you enjoy these. If not, I hope I do. ;)

Kestrel starts slightly at the strange sight of the flying carpet but recovers quickly. After the man's announcement, she looks sharply at him. "Why send her to fight me? Are you concerned for your own safety? You have no honor," she spits. "I will not fight your minions." She seems more angered at the man's refusal to fight for himself than his treatment of Lotus.

Staring directly at him, she says, "I find your father to be childish, your castle to be valueless, and your karma to be offensive."

Edit: OOC: Just to be completely clear, I am *not* answering Lotus's challenge, but offering one of my own to the Sultan.

The Sultan frowns deeply for a moment as he contemplates his response. Stroking on his pointed beard, he finally responds to Kestrel.

"You silly girl, I have done you the kindness of sparing your life by refusing to battle you. And what do you do? You throw my gift back into my face like a handful of sand. I already told you that you have permision to fight my servant in my place. I will even do her the favor of releasing her chain so that she may fight without impediment."

As he says this, Kestrel sees the eyes of Lotus go wide in surprise, and maybe a trace of hope. Whatever hope she had though is quickly dashed as the Sultan, instead of removing the collar and chain from her neck, just drops his end of the chain to the dusty ground. As Lotus pulls the heavy chain towards herself in order to keep from getting tangled up in it, the Sultan resumes speaking.

"So, here is your choice fighting woman. You can battle against my servant here, or not. If you feel that you cannot win such a battle, I will understand. But maybe, just maybe, if you impress me enough with your fighting skills, I will grant you that which you seek from me...a lesson in pain.

"So, what will it be, shall you fight my Lotus here and now? Or should I stop wasting my time here and fly elsewhere in search of a fighter who is willing to fight?"

As Kestrel looks from the Sultan to Lotus, she sees what could only be described as a pleading look in the shining eyes of the beautiful girl and her mouth seems to be forming a silent word over and over...'please'.

OoC: Seonaid, I believe I understand your in-character reason for challenging the Sultan instead of Lotus, but in character, Lotus has reason to want to fight and get better herself. And out of character, I only ever intended the Sultan as an NPC character for story purposes, not as a fighter. I will only be fighting with Lotus. If this is unacceptable to you, then I'll take them elsewhere and answer or make another challenge of my own. No hard feelings of course. Just making it know that Sultan isn't a character and won't be fighting anyone.

[Just adding a little RP flavor . . . I actually kind of figured the Sultan wasn't an actual fighter, but since you're doing the RP thing, I decided to play along. :D]

She looks at the girl for a moment and then at the Sultan. "Do not insult my skills before testing yourself against me." She pauses as if in consideration, and then resumes sharply. "Fine. I will fight your servant."

To the girl, she nods slightly and says, "I find your aunt to be odd, your house to be sketchy, and your grandfather's blocking to be hilarious."

"I will judge this match, if no one objects. I am Lorfess. And i find Lotus' insult to be superior. Please set type and length of match."

MechaMeowth has decreed this match to take place at the grotto east of Xiang-Xia Province on the dawn of the east wind.

"My master commands me that I must declare this match to be a 4 flag Speed match."

"As my opponent must go first, I will await her attack."

Kestrel bows to the judge and to Lotus, deliberately avoiding the Sultan. She then suddenly charges Lotus, hoping to not only complete a successful attack but also prevent a coherent response from the girl.

The west wind bashes the sea; scatters the beauty of the abomination!

Lotus loops a length of her chain into a weapon and starts spinning through a beautiful dance before swinging out at Kestrel with a powerful attack. Continuing her spin, she attempts to use the remaining chain twirling around her to parry her foe's attack.

The mace beautifully wracks the cemetery; parries the blood of the ice!

I can understand how the wind can bash the see... but i dont understand how there could be a beautiful abomination. Where as beautifully wracking something is a bit strange as well, and i dont think ice has blood. But i think that if the wind bashes the sea, it could lead to a tsunami, which has unbelievable destructive force. So i am going to award the point to Jade.

1 flag Jade, 0 flags lotus, target 4!
