I met my wife in the Commons at the University of Alaska Anchorage. I was a returning student (age 30) and she was traditional freshman. We started talking and eventually the topic of gaming came up. As we were both currently without a group, I started up an Al-Qadim game. The first session of the game was about two weeks later. I had become seriously interested, but was being careful. Then it happened. The party of three second level PCs had gotten hold of the spellbook of a 5th level flame wizard. The flame wizard was invisible and everyone was in a large room and spread out. The wizard, a very vain and vindictive woman, ordered the PC with the book to put it down or she would kill one of them. When the PC said, "Go ahead!" I sighed internally and looked at my future wife and said, "Sorry. You take X fire damage." Sadly my future wife was playing a very attractive sha'ir with a water gen and so was the perfect target. But it turns out killing her character made her fall in love with me. Crazy world we live in isn't it? We've been together nine years now and married for five and a half of them. We still game together and I still DM most of the time. And, yes, I still kill her characters from time to time.
