My fiancee is a gamer. When we first met in 2000, she was playing in a Gotham City Police Department collaborative-story roleplaying game on alt.comics.batman, but she didn't get interested in tabletop gaming until we got together - after we broke up in early 2002, she got involved in a D&D game with her older brother and his friends, and stuck around for a new game after her brother stole the DM's girlfriend and the first campaign collapsed - another aspect of "love and gaming". When we got back together in late 2004, she ended up sucking me into World of Warcraft and we both belonged to a guild run by her DM and his (new) girlfriend, at least until they merged us with a larger guild. Since then, most of her gaming has been D&D one-shots that we've played with these guild leaders on my trips to visit her in California - in fact, the first one of these I ran was the first time the other guild leader had ever played D&D, despite her boyfriend's experience as a DM. They've been really good fun, but now that my fiancee's moved here to Sydney those days are pretty much over, which is a real shame. Now that my fiancee is in Sydney, though, I'm going to start up a Savage Tide campaign in Eberron so that we can play with some of my friends from SUTEKH, the university gaming group with which I'm still involved. I'm lucky in that she's pretty much willing to try and play anything I'm interested in running. ;) We're also both getting back into World of Warcraft after a few months' hiatus now that the Burning Crusade expansion is coming out.
