Message: <blockquote data-quote="Wednesday Boy" data-source="post: 3873840" data-attributes="member: 53678"><p>If I understand correctly, a non-standard race's ECL is the number of hit dice it has plus its level adjustment plus any class levels it has.  That makes it seem like you could lower the ECL of a multiple racial hit dice character by simply lowering the starting number of hit dice (and subsequently the any skill points, BAB or feats associated with those HD).  Ex: If a 1st level lizardfolk has an ECL of 4 (2 hit dice + 1 LA + 1 class level), could you make a 1st level lizardfolk with an ECL of 3 by giving it one hit die instead of two?  Or is there a way to buy off the HD like you can buy off the LA (by the Unearthed Arcana variant rules)?  Thanks for any insight!</p></blockquote><p></p>
