Had eaten them once since that day, so the opportunity to have some couldn't be passed. As for drink, when trained for helping any and all levels of society, you tend to pick up skills others might find a bit odd. For me it was the ability to drink in moderation, but make it seem as if it was in excess. One can usually get information from someone much easier under such a circumstance.
