I *think* that Shadowmind is from Complete Adventurer; it's a psionic class that grants some Sneak Attack and rogue skills, with manifesting. So, odds are, the kitty had a mix of rogue and psychic warrior. Take the below with a grain or two of salt; I could have Shadowmind wrong. Hrm...that could be potentially nasty with Psionic Lion's Charge, which, BTW, would help explain where the massive damage came from. That power allows you to make a full attack on the end of a charge, and then augments at +1 point of damage/power point spent on the attack. IIRC, it costs 3 points to start off with, being a second-level power, so if the kitty could spend, say, 10, that's a +7 damage to each hit. There are a few potential drawbacks to this. First, middle BAB on each HD he has makes it hard to hit anything. Second, the rogue and tiger HD make any manifesting pretty expensive in terms of class levels, even if he has some psionic version of Practiced Spellcaster. Third, even if it does work out, it can only do this a few times before petering out of power points, especially if he's dumping points into Offensive Precognition to help hit. In fact, I'm not really sure how this would be workable with Rules As Written, even as an NPC. Definitely not for a PC; the ECL is too high, and the levels are just painful. So, tactics. First, win initiative and keep your distance. Second, have some sort of brace vs. charge weapon or ability, like those boots from Arms & Equipment Guide. Third, dispel and debuff him ASAP. Fourth, BE HARD TO HIT. Sorry, that needs to be emphasized, being at fourth and all. :) Builds...if you've been keeping up with Dragon, I'd go for a polearm specialist, especially with the # 338 Class Acts Longspear-and-Shield style. Take that, Heavy Armor, Combat Reflexes, Hold the Line, and whatever feats are available in that previous Polearms Are Your Friends article. Heavy Fortification Armor will cramp the kitty's style at only +36k, and because you can carry a shield, you can jack up your AC with that, too. Brad
