Magic Item components

Does anyone know of any 'published' or fan based lists containing components for potions, magic items etc?
I hope to include these components as part of the treasure for my PC's in my next game. I do not want to go down the path of the PC's buying any item they choose by just handing over the gold. If they want something with an exotic component they will have to go and get it.
On the reverse side, if they defeat some exotic beast, upon returning to town and requesting a mage to create an item, he can say no, but with that umber hulk eye I can create you some eyes of charming.
You get the idea, so can anyone help out?

While it's not precisely D&D, Hackmaster has some information on what you can use the parts of each critter for in the Hacklopedias. The problem is that (a) there are 8 of those hacklopedias, and (b) I don't think there's any list that says "to make a potioin of confusion, use umber hulk eyes", just an entry in the Umber Hulk description that says "You can use the Umber Hulk's eyes as a component in s potion of confusion" (no guarantee that example is correct.).

I seem to recall the 2e monstrous manual having something akin to this. The last paragraph in each monster entry told various things about using it as mounts, selling them as eggs, how much gold you got by burning it, and how it could be used in magic item production.

Artificer's Handbook has a huge chapter on magic item components.

Gems (each described), monster byproducts (examples), sample herbs (this alone could be an entire book, and you might consider finding a copy of the netbook of herbs, it's quite good), and "weird" components. Things like "winds of change" and "monkey off someone's back". These are really for artifacts, since they're not really "things", but ideas.

Plus, it has charts to determine availability in cities, and by terrain type.
