============
Deck of the Artificer
Each deck is a unique creation that only works for the artificer that constructs it. Making a complete deck is a crowning achievement and signifies one as one of the few grandmasters. The possession of one and the proven ability to use it is often used as verification of identity and ability before any meetings among those within the order.
There are 5 suites to the cards
Sun - Attack
Moon - Defense
Stars - Information
River - Creation
Blank - Transformation/Healing
There are 10 cards in each suit, each matching a spell level.
The deck of cards is literally part of the Artificer, and if “lost” will find their way back within the hour, much like a cursed item. Usage of the deck is easy, simply by pulling a card and focusing (can do both together as a standard action), the Artificer can duplicate any spell of that level or less (if duplicating a lower level spell with a higher level card, it is treated at the higher level for purposes of overcoming resistance, being dispelled, DC, etc). Each card can only be used once a day.
If an artificer has made only one suit of a particular level, then they can only do that 1 effect of that level. If they have made two suits of a particular level, then they can use either card to do either effect, and so on. So that with all 5 cards of a level you can "cast" any spell of that level or less 5 times a day.
Mechanics
The deck is a wondrous item, and therefore the creation cannot start until 3rd level. The “market” value of each card is 1,000 * spell level squared, as usual, the cost to create is is ½ that in materials, a 1/25th that in XP, modified by any feats or other abilities. In order to make a higher level card in a suit, you must have made all lower level cards in that suit. Therefore, an entire deck would have a “market” value of 1,426,250 gp. “Casting” a spell from a card is a standard action regardless of the normal spell level and cannot be quickened. Spells can come from any spell list and if they are listed with different levels, use the lowest. Spells use the artificer’s current artificer level and charisma for effects and DC’s.
