Message: <blockquote data-quote="77IM" data-source="post: 4737902" data-attributes="member: 12377">I do this in my campaign.  I call them "minor artifacts."  A minor artifact basically gains features after you meet certain conditions -- like a regular artifact, but with only a few lines' worth of features, not an entire page.  Minor artifacts often come as sets where the condition is "you have a certain number of set items."For example, the Sword of Gwydion might be a +1 resounding longsword.  If you wield it while wearing the Armor of Gwydion (a +1 exalted chain), then it also gains the terror property.  If you have the Shield of Gwydion (a guardian shield) with either the sword or armor, then the sword and/or armor also becomes +X, which means the enhancement bonus scales with level.Typically I'll place one of the items in a dungeon and then the PCs have to investigate and find clues for the location of the others.  Minor artifacts can't be created or disenchanted. -- 77IM</blockquote>
