But if there isn't anything you can enhance it doesn't work (That's why cloth are taken as armor with armor 0 for the spell magic vestment). That may be the reason why bracers of armor have an armor bonus, not an enhancement bonus. Enhancement bonus to AC only enhance the armor/shield, not the character. You can enhance a chain shirt worn by yourself with magic vestment and then take it off and give it to your fighter buddy. You lose immidiatly all armor from chainshirt and the enhancement bonuses on that item. Your fighter buddy now wears an enhanced chainshirt. If the enhancement bonus would apply to character, the chainshirt would lose it's enhancement bonus from magic vestment as soon as you drop it. But the target is Armor or shield not creature, caster, or any object.</blockquote>
