One question not covered in the OP is the level of wealth-resources-etc. the real-world version has, or has access to. If we're to use our own personal wealth etc. for this, my (and, likely, true for many of us) options would be very limited. But if we can assume Bruce Wayne levels of wealth etc. then there's all kinds of ways of staying secret. But it's a long-term project. First thing to do: quietly and perhaps slowly drop out of society then move way out into the country. And I mean way out. If there's another dwelling within 50 miles of you, that's probably too close. This becomes your home and hideout, and the probably-several years you spend building and refining it will get people used to your absence. Ideally, most of it is underground to avoid satellite surveillance. You might take one or two trusted people out there with you, both for the physical labour they can provide and for the company so you don't go stir-crazy; but those people never leave the "base". You'd also need to put together a mundane disguise for yourself in order to buy supplies, food, etc. in town without being recognized as That Guy. Transport isn't an issue given that you can fly somewhere close to town and then walk in, and smaller towns are less likely to be using high-end surveillance tech so facial recognition is probably off the table. You also survey the world (virtually!), noting caves, ruins, and other places where you can ditch and hide from radar and satellite tracking if-when needed; that way you're not always returning to your base to hide and giving its location away in the process. Then, once you've got your base together, you at last appear as your Super self (with, as others have noted above, a fully-covering costume or Iron-Man-like suit) and henceforth that's the only way anyone ever sees you other than your companion(s) at your base. You don't even try to keep a dual-identity like Superman does, as that is doomed to fail from the start. Let the crime-fighting commence.
