Making Tables in posts?

Hi, quick question. What options are there for inserting tables? I wanted to post a home-brewed class, and already have the table written with (what I think is) HTML code, but it doesn't work.

Enclosing the text in a code tag converts the font to monospaced.
[code]blah blah blah
blah blah blah[/code]

becomes

blah blah      blah
blah blah      blah

Heh, I had to select "quote" just to be sure, since the site seems to condense the spacing on stuff outside of

.  When I looked at your post quoted, the illustrated example gained the extra spacing of the table.  Thanks for your help.
