Ghruzin is an unholy terror of the woods, the result of generations of dire wolves breeding and living in a ruined temple complex where the avatar of a terrible deity of fear and evil was buried alive centuries ago. The god was slain in a war in the heavens, and the avatar's death throes imbued the broken temple with terrible energies which twisted and corrupted the creatures living there. Ghruzin's pack was destroyed, but he has taken control of many of the normal wolves that dwelt near. One of the females is nearly as large as he, and almost as tainted. She serves as his mate. A warrior who lived alone nearby has also been corrupted by the temple and Ghruzin's honeyed voice, and serves as a "face" for the pack when need be.

Unlike most dire wolves, Ghruzin is almost pure black, with burning red eyes and unnaturally long fangs. He is more than 11 feet long and weighs half a ton. Ghruzin speaks Common, and has a deep, seductive voice.

Combat

Ghruzin is an efficient pack hunter, but often allows his savagery get in the way of good tactics. He prefers to attack with his pack after the Tiefling scouts, surrounding and flanking a foe when he can.

Trip (Ex): When Ghruzin hits with a bite attack he can attempt to trip his opponent (+14 check modifier) as a free action without making a touch attack or provoking an attack of opportunity. If the attempt fails, the opponent cannot react to trip him.
Maligned Strike (Su): Ghruzin deals an additional 1d4 points of unholy damage when he hits an opponent of good or neutral alignment.
Detect Good (Sp): Ghruzin can cast detect good at will, as a spell-like ability.
Light Sensitivity (Ex): Ghruzin suffers a -2 penalty to initiative and attacks made in light brighter than torchlight.
Longevity (Su): Ghruzin's malign existence will not be short. As long as he remains within 8 miles of the ruined temple, he ages at one-fourth the normal rate.
Frightful Presence (Ex): Whenever Ghruzin attacks or charges, all opponents within 30 feet who have 7 or less hit dice become shaken for 1d6+2 rounds. The effect is negated by a Will save (DC 16). A successfull save indicates that the opponent is immune to his frightful presence for 24 hours. This ability can't affect creatures with an Intelligence of 3 or lower, nor does it have any effect on Dragons.

Skills: Ghruzin has a +2 racial bonus on Listen, Sneak, and Spot checks. He recieved 11 bonus skill points in Intimidate.
*He also has a +4 racial bonus on Wilderness Survival checks when tracking by scent.

Ghruzin's leadership score is 12 for his cohort and 14 for followers (8 HD plus 2 Cha plus 1 special power plus 2 base of operations [followers only] plus 1 Born Leader). His starting scores were Str 13, Dex 10, Con 11, Int X (automatic 2, brought to 10 by Awakened template), Wis 9, Cha 12. His level 4 ability bonus went to Con, his level 8 was Cha

I had started this guy as a monster for my players to fight, but I kept throwing templates on and now I like it but it's too strong for them :) I'll probably send it against them later. The rules are hybrid AU.

Edit: Found the Frightful Presence feat. I'd originally intended him to have it, but I couldn't find it. It's in the Draconomicion, and I suspect it may be overpowered.
