heya. my wife and i are looking to join a small d&d 3.5 game [or maybe monte's a.u.] in manhattan or jersey city [brooklyn and queens are also possibilities if close by/easily accessible to manhattan] with like-minded gamers. if the following sounds interesting and you're looking to add a couple of players or start a new game, please post a reply with contact info.

we are:

thirtysomething lit-degree holders just back from a three-year stint in japan

gamers far more interested in building an interesting story arc and developing character ideas than blatant power-gaming "kill things and take their stuff" sorts

avid readers [he: kerouac, henry miller, james ellroy, conan stories, j. gregory keyes, china mieville, melville & other american romantics, philosophy, social and literary criticism; she: asian-american lit, british mysteries, ursula leguin, madeleine l'engle, mary stewart, whitney otto]

movie lovers, from the matrix to david lynch, fellini to cocteau, fightclub, woody allen, kurosawa, b horror flicks to heady french film to the recent spate of comic book movies. love the x-files, twin peaks but don't own a tv.

recent returnees to the world of comics [old x-men & x-factor, sandman, y the last man, gloom cookie, sword of dracula, blade of kumori, witchblade, razor's edge: warblade, etc.]

artists [writer and quilter/dancer/musician] who would rather work part-time jobs and enjoy all of life than chase the corporate carrot

fervent devotees of the art of the storyhour as epitomized by sepulchrave, destan, old druid and johnrogers on these 'boards.

ideally we're looking for others who share a similar outlook about life and aesthetics to game with. we love the new eberron setting, monte cook as a designer [though the diamond throne leaves a lot to be desired as a setting] and would be willing to play in eberron, iron kingdoms, forgotten realms or greyhawk [or a homebrew if well-developed], so long as the campaign focuses on complex themes and roleplaying over rollplaying.

thanks for your patience for reading this far. looking forward to meeting and gaming with some interesting people....

Hey Folks,

I have a thread on here, looking for 1-2 more people for a new Iron Kingdoms campaign. The game is going to take place in North Bergen (not the county, the township) and is and 20-30 minutes from where you are. The group currently consists of 30 somethings from very different backgrounds (lawyer, professor, scientist etc.) and we are looking for people who enjoy both the creative and the interactive aspect of the game and are willing to "build" the campaign together. Email me @ ppanavalli@yahoo.com if interested. We are currently considering playing Sundays, once or twice a month, with a start time around 11am.
