Bio: Santiago De La Rosa Santiago was born and raised in Spain. He is the descendent of a soldier who came with Ponce De Leone while he was looking for the Fountain of youth. His ancestor married a Spanish girl of noble birth and returned to Spain. Santiago hear the tales of the strange and wonderful place called America and decided as a young child that he would go there and find his fortune. Somewhere between his decision to come to America and actually getting there he received the calling to the priesthood. At the time he was a soldier in the Spanish army and was given leave to enter a monastery dedicated to the “Sword arm of Jesus”. During he stay at the monastery Santiago fell in love with one of the daughters of a high ranking noble and due to his vow of celibacy and chastity could do nothing but love her from a distance. Juanita Blanco the lady he had given his heart to was just as taken with the lanky soldier/priest and knowing of his vows and his love for her she gave him her ring as a lovers gift. This ring is tied into his long black hair and has never been removed. At the monastery he was schooled in the fine arts of Diplomacy and was told he would be coming to America to aid in the Spanish occupation of the continent. While he was in the Spanish occupied areas of America he saw great atrocities and was swayed to leave the army and strike out on his own. He has been searching for the guidance from God to show him where his destiny lay. Appearance: Santiago is a tall and lanky sort of man with a strong build and beautiful face. He has long black hair typically tied in a ponytail and a heavy 5 o’clock shadow even when freshly shaved. He sports a thin mustache. His eyes are black and penetrating with a gaze that looks directly into the souls of those he meets. He is normally dressed in the clothing of a priest with a poncho over him. He is never seen with a horse but always has saddlebags with him. Personality: Santiago is searching for the soul he feels he lost while working for the Spanish army. He has seen many things that are not the “way of God” and it sickened him enough to desert the army. He has no idea if he is being hunted as a deserter or if anyone has even noticed he is missing but he tries to keep a low profile. He is a calm and solemn man given to bouts of depression and joy in equal measure.
